adCenter Feature Review: multiple account performance reports and misspelled keywords management

This post is the second in a series of adCenter feature reviews, providing an overview of tool elements released to all customers in our new interface on April 28, 2007. Today I'd like to show you two more new features: multiple account performance reports and misspelled keywords management.

Multiple Account Performance Reports
Previously in adCenter, it wasn't possible to run performance reports on multiple accounts, campaigns, or ad groups—now you can! This feature allows you to review data across your various accounts in order to compare performance between accounts all in one place. With this kind of data, you can learn best practices for setting up campaigns from your own accounts. For example, perhaps you set up one of your accounts six months ago. Time passed and you set up another one two months ago, without recalling how you set up the first. Now you can see the results of these two complimentary accounts side-by-side, and adjust one to match the higher-performing one. Or, perhaps you're an agency managing various clients—now you can download performance data for different clients' accounts into one report. To do so:

  1. Click the Reports tab.
  2. On the Create New Report page, in the Report drop-down list, select a report.
  3. If you want a customized name for your report, in the Name box, type the name.
  4. In the Report view drop-down list, select the scope of your report view.
  5. In the Date range drop-down list, select a time span for the data that you want to include in the report.
  6. Select a specific account or multiple accounts.

  7. To customize the data that appears in your report, under Customize this report, select the options you want.
  8. Do either of the following:
    • To run the report now, click Run Report.
    • To save the report as a report template, click Save as Template.

For more information please see the related help topic, Create a report.

Improvement to Misspelled Keyword Management
Good news for those of you who like to bid on keyword misspellings to catch those searchers who might not be so great at spelling. In the past, you would sometimes receive inaccurate keyword rejections due to misspellings. But the new version of adCenter has improved the management of misspelled keywords during the editorial review process. If you commonly bid on misspelled keywords, you could see fewer inaccurate relevance rejections based on the misspellings. This can help you get your campaigns up and running quickly and easily.
If you haven't been bidding on misspelled keywords, you might want to consider this option to catch traffic from searchers who aren't spelling your keyword quite right. Check out the Keyword Mutation Demo from Microsoft adCenter Labs for ideas on common misspellings of your keywords.

We have designed these new adCenter features to help make managing your adCenter campaigns easier and more efficient for you. If you'd like, please take time to share your feedback on the adCenter forum.

Thanks!
Carolyn
